There's a laptop somewhere in your home. Maybe in a drawer, maybe in a closet in the room nobody uses anymore. It's been sitting there for months, maybe years. You stopped using it because you got a new one, or because it got slow, or because the screen has a dead pixel. The "I'll fix it someday" intention never happened.
You're not alone. In Panama, thousands of devices end up exactly like that — stored, forgotten, or eventually thrown away.
What you might not know is that the device you no longer use could be the tool someone else uses to learn to code, land their first job, or change the direction of their life.
What actually happens when you donate to Crezendo?
When your laptop arrives, we don't simply plug it in and hand it out. There's a process:
1. Technical assessment Our repair team — many of them students who learned with us — evaluates the device. They check the hard drive, RAM, screen, battery, and charger.
2. Repair or parts salvage If the device works, we get it ready. If it doesn't fully work, the parts that do are used to repair other devices. Almost nothing goes to waste at Crezendo.
3. Educational software setup We install the tools students will need: an up-to-date operating system, code editors, browsers, design tools, spreadsheets.
4. Assignment to a student The device goes to someone who didn't have access to a computer. A young person who wants to learn web development. A mother looking to build new skills and improve her income. A technician who wants to formalize their trade.
"But my laptop is too old"
This is the argument we hear most — and the easiest one to dismantle.
Most of our introductory courses in programming, web design, and computer maintenance don't require cutting-edge hardware. A device with 4 GB of RAM and a 6-year-old processor runs a code editor, a browser, and basic development tools just fine.
If your laptop can open a browser and type a document, it can teach someone to code.
"It's broken"
Even better.
We have a full computer repair workshop. Broken devices are literally our teaching material. A failed hard drive is a diagnostic exercise. A screen with lines is a lesson in how to replace it.
Devices beyond repair get disassembled to salvage parts: network cards, RAM modules, chargers, keyboards.

The impact in numbers
Since Crezendo began operating:
- 500+ students have gone through our workshops
- 85% of graduates have found employment or salary improvements directly related to what they learned
- 150+ organizations across Latin America have donated devices or partnered with us
Each donated laptop has the potential to pass through the hands of multiple students throughout its useful life at Crezendo.
Something most people don't consider
Donating technology in Panama isn't just educational — it's also environmental responsibility. Electronic devices become hazardous waste when they end up in landfills. Components contain heavy metals that contaminate soil and water.
By donating to Crezendo, you ensure the device is used until it genuinely can't give any more, and that at the end of its useful life it's handled responsibly.
How do you donate?
Message us on WhatsApp at the number on this page, or fill out the contact form. Within 24 hours we'll coordinate the details.
You don't need to package the device specially. You don't need to wipe it clean yourself (though you can if you want). Just reach out.
The laptop in your drawer could be training someone this week.
